Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince believes that a player like Wayne Rooney is being wasted in the midfield.
Over the last couple of years, Rooney has been predominantly playing as a midfielder although he has also been used in a number of other positions. Playing out of position is not something new to the former Everton forward, as even Sir Alex Ferguson used him on the wings when Cristiano Ronaldo was at his peak at United. However, the opinion about a Rooney playing as a midfielder seems to be split with Ince considering this as a daft decision
Jose Mourinho arrived at United with an opportunity to manage Rooney for the first time in his career. The Portuguese is someone who regards the England international in great manner and this union was expected to spark Rooney back into life after a couple of soulless seasons under Louis van Gaal. However, this has not been the case since Mourinho has also been utilising Rooney in a deeper role. He has preferred using the taller and more physical Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the primary striker. Incredibly, new England manager Sam Allardyce also did not think about bringing Rooney back to the front as he deployed the striker as a defensive midfielder in the win over Slovakia.

Wayne Rooney says that new United manager José Mourinho has been fantastic at getting his message across the dressing room.
His statement comes as a direct hit at former manager Louis van Gaal, who do not enjoy the same kind of response from the dressing room after coming in from the Dutch national team two years ago. Van Gaal spent two years at United and was unable to complete his full contract at the club. He was replaced by Mourinho, who has been out of work for the last few months after having been sacked by Chelsea.
Since the former Chelsea boss has an excellent grasp of English and knows the Premier League extremely well, he has had no trouble settling in at Carrington training ground. The club has already made some key signings in several areas of the pitch. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been brought in on a free transfer to provide competition front. Wayne Rooney is expected to be brought back to his favourite position of playing as a striker. Van Gaal experimented Rooney in a number of areas across the pitch including defensive midfield. However, these changes only had a limited impact and Rooney’s goalscoring form had plummeted as a direct result in the last two years. Read more »
For the moment, Roy Hodgson has successfully shifted the attention from England’s campaign to his resignation and the new coach-hunt.
But, as everything calms down, he would definitely try to throw light on the France failure and the first on his list would be the absence of Danny Welbeck.
To his defence, it can be admitted that losing one of the best players he has can unsettle any coach, but, if it unsettled Hodgson to the degree that he remained clueless right through the Euros, he can blame nobody else.
It is not that Welbeck had not got injured for ages and all of a sudden, he broke down. He had a history. It was known he had a body with not a great enduring power. He might be on the stretcher anytime.
Had he been playing for England months after months in the lead up to France? It would be a ‘no’ again. He had hardly been in an England shirt in about a year. Read more »
Wayne Rooney claimed that Manchester United team were disappointed not to beat Leicester City during the weekend.
Leicester came into the game looking to be crowned as the champions of the Premier League for the first time. They have been the most unlikely team to have been competing for the league title at this stage of the season. Such an event has not happened in English football for several decades due to the overwhelming dominance of clubs like United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea.
The top four domination has slowly gone away to be replaced by challengers from the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham, but few would have expected Leicester City to be in this position with three games left. United were unable to make a major say in the title race after only managing a 1-1 draw with Leicester. This puts Claudio Ranieri’s team just two points away from a victory in the title race. However, they may not even need these two points if Tottenham dropped points against Chelsea on Monday night. This is most likely to happen given that the blues have been very much positive about helping Leicester City claim the title. Read more »
If you are one of those who don’t like Louis Van Gaal and you fear that the Dutchman’s success in leading the club to Cup glory might keep him at the club, you need not worry because some trusted sources have brought the information that the writing is on the wall for the Dutchman regardless of whatever he does from here.
No silverware has come to United after Sir Alex walked away and that’s why, it was said that if Van Gaal ends that wait and brings FA Cup to Old Trafford, it might earn him another season into the most glamorous managerial job in the world, but, no, it looks like nothing will save him now, not even silverware.
With Sir Alex and Manchester United’s best player of all time, Bobby Charlton, both of whom are parts of United in the capacity of directors at the moment, being unhappy with the probability of Jose Mourinho coming in, there was a chance for Van Gaal to maybe remain there, but, those two are also understood to have given the club their consent now and the big appointment of Jose is almost inevitable. Clubs from the Chinese Super League have been displaying their interest in signing Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney. The captain of the Premier League club has not been as prolific in scoring goals in this season compared to other years but even though the Englishman has not gone through such a sensational season, Rooney still continues being a player that many clubs would not hesitate in offloading cash in order to secure his services.

Since arriving to Manchester United back in 2004, Rooney has lifted 5 Premier League titles but he still wants to add more league trophies to his collection and this is one of main reasons of why it’s believed that Wayne Rooney opted to rejected the numerous offers that has recently received.
As the captain of Manchester United, Wayne Rooney wants to continue helping out his club for as long as he can and truth be told United are in need of Rooney as the Premier League club doesn’t really have any other attacking player with the capabilities and experience of Rooney.

Louis van Gaal failed to win a trophy in his first season at Manchester United, but striker Wayne Rooney is remaining positive and says that the manager has done an excellent job.
Much was expected from van Gaal due to his history of managing big clubs. This was in sharp contrast to David Moyes, who struggled with the aspect of dealing with big names week in and week out. However, one can could only manage to get United into the top four will also failing to win any other titles like the FA Cup or League Cup. In fact, United had a disappointing exits in both these cup competitions.
Rooney is staying behind the Dutchman, as he believes that the former Barcelona manager did the first priority of getting the club back into the Champions League. This was key in order to keep attracting the big names to Old Trafford. Now that United have secured European football once again, they have the ability to bring in players like Memphis Depay. This is because United have always had a much better financial strength over the likes of City and Chelsea, who have to rely upon funding from their owners in order to make such big signings.
